    @ billie-jo: it's not just this particular picture that i am referring too. over the last couple years many people have emailed me racially charged or denigrating comments about the obamas. over the last two months many of the people posting defamatory things about the obamas have been from the church in oakland. for some reason when it comes to anti obama sentiment it is ok to suspend all christian etiquette and go all out with snide remarks and casual racism. i guess people are mad because i'm not supporting their bad behavior, or giggling along while they call people names... 

    @everyone: as for the rest of you, name calling, really? i "dislike bullies" and as i stated earlier, it is shameful that you SUPPORT this behavior rather than condemn it. THIS IS NOT CHRISTIAN BEHAVIOR.

    @amber: the same pew? you must remember church differently than me. to put it plainly amber. there was a time when i was on FIRE for god. and even in that moment i still had problems making the science line up with "the word." the difference was that i did not care then. i figured my faith would be enough. since we were simply in an organised religion and not a cult i was able to think freely. i have looked at the bible in many different ways and its an interesting retelling of history, nothing more. and for you to sit there all "holier than thou" is reprehensible. you are lying to yourself. you are not some epic christian, "jumping for jesus" and you know it. being a christian is a 24/7 job not a "when i go thing." 

    @amber and dean jr: as for the military stuff... wow. saying "not to be rude" or "no offense" does not make it any less rude or offensive. i did not say i packed up and went to war amber, i said that when bush was giving his ground zero speech i was packing my c bag and gearing up for war. billie-jo and i both watched the 2nd plane hit the tower live on tv. i then got dressed in my uniform and started packing for deployment. the troop recall came soon after i started packing. now here at home, dean jr was getting misty eyed over a speech... what a patriot! what a leader of men! i then gave some colorful examples of war. think for a moment, when was the last time our troops came home and got spit on? it was vietnam, i was not relating these examples as if they had happened to me amber. we as a nation sit at home and enjoy freedom while roughly 11% of our population tries to reconcile the price THEY paid for OUR freedom. the ones that came home anyway. for the war... it is such a disgusting sentiment. we should be DESTROYED the day we begin to believe that war is as romantic and honorable as we have been lead to believe. the "brown people must look alike to you" comment was condescending dean jr stated earlier that he gets obama and osama confused. i was responding to that ignorant statement.

    @dean jr: don't spare me your "holier than thou" wrath for the sake of "my family" i welcome whatever comments you have to pass my way. i am an adult, i have my own mind and i can handle it just fine. that being said, i'm not trying to goad you into a fight, if you want to have an intellectual debate regarding the veracity of the information in the bible, sure. you got it. we can even do it in person, i'll buy the coffee! if you want to do this online, thats cool too. either way i promise all my arguments will be based on reason with solid science to back them up. a starting point would be for you to answer any two of the questions i posed earlier in the thread. 

    @dean jr: your comment about how you believe in "GOD COUNTRY LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL........" i have had to respond to this sentiment many times. nationalism is not patriotism, god was never mentioned in the constitution because religion has no place in politics and flag + bible only reinforces our innate "belief perseverance." some politicians have figured out that saying "this is god's will" will make the public's eyes glass over, brais switch off and "vote bible"... before getting into that war you were 100% for, GWB said he prayed about it... on tv no less. and look how that all ended. i do not have "faith issues" I HAVE NO FAITH! atheism is the absence magical thinking and belief in a god or gods. being free of all magical thinking is also to be free of - FEAR - the ONLY downside so far is the whole absolution thing. if you guys go out and do bad stuff you can "pray the blood" and be forgiven. if i do bad stuff i have to make it right so i can sleep at night. it must be wonderful to smoke, drink, screw,cuss, cheat and lie all week and the "repent" on sunday to be right with god so you can do it all again starting monday. in case you are wondering dean jr, i have never smoked, drank or done drugs in my whole life. i am what people call "straight edge." i have a hard time taking aspirin. i am good without god. i do not need the "fear of the lord" to make me be a good person. uh... one last thing, its a common misconception that atheist eat babies.. i'd just like to point out that it was you... in deuteronomy... yeah... god told you would be forced to eat babies.

  • Jeremy R. Cort your "pastor" leads a sect of the UPC. by definition alone all members of the congregation are going to hell for leaving the "truth." (Romans 1:31-32) and that is for just changing churches.

    as to my writings grandma, they are far from callous. i DO c    are a great deal about my family. and while ALL the fundamentalist christians i know ( except 2) espouse holiness and love, they infact are all hypocrites. hatred and bigotry is not love. not even close.

    lastly, if you think i have "changed" you never knew me grandma. in fact our facebook conversations are the only meaningful dialogue we have had... in 30 years. i love you because your heart beats, your mind thinks and your hands have done great works. not because it is the "christian thing to do."

      YOUR attitude toward "brown people" gets noticed by others dean... by your parents (who support it) by your wife (who hopefully has the common sense to secretly hate you for it) your kids, and every family in the church. all those men women and children look up to you and your family dean. and while (hopefully) you are not actively elevating your status among them because you are a "leader" they cannot help to elevate you. it is in our nature to be led. you are taking advantage of a weakness in such a terrible way. your behavior is appalling. you are supposed to hold yourself to a higher standard of accountability dean...

      this trash you spit shows the kind pf person you are. and while you probably still feel that "it's no big deal," know that you are so wrong. your progeny deserve better than this. be better, be great. not petty and cruel whenever you get the chance....
